Quite a tough brief...the editor wanted an illustration to go along with a story about the restructuring of lower level rugby league. After knocking around a few ideas I decided on this picture to show that summer rugby was coming - the most tangible thread to the tale.

| This was one of the earlier ideas trying to capture the facts - the notion of the pyramid structure and the national amateur level holding up the top level game. But it wasn't working for me |
