The concept for the CD was the feeling of optimism about starting a new chapter in life - the old chapter being linked to a past relationship. It was important not to have any animosity, just a feeling of freedom and two lives separating.

CD artwork: The Slow Blade

Band 'The Slow Blade' asked me to design a weird cd cover for them. The album title was taken from the film Dune, (luckily I knew it quite well). I love the visuals in that film, so it was a fertile ground for ideas. I drew a funny version of a Guild Navigator, adding the quintessential slow blade...the cheese knife!

Entitled 'The soothing sounds of Michael Shields', the original drawing ended up about five and a half foot tall. The artwork was for a band poster / merchandise

A mixed media collage turned into quite a bizarre illustration. I originally called it 'rib dancer', with the floating rib cage making up a kind of dress for the female figure.
